BUKIT LANJAN: Kudos to Prevena for her excellent performance at an UN conference!
Syabas (Congratulations) to SMK Sultan Badlishah’s Prevena Ramakrishnan for her excellent performance at the International Model United Nations conference in the US.
It is also heart warming to note that Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid took to social media to congratulate Prevena for her achievement.
“But, don’t stop at just that Mahdzir! Follow-up with more concrete action to promote, stimulate and motivate excellence!” Gerakan Deputy Speaker Syed Abdul Razak Alsagoff said.

“Like what I have stated in at least five previous blog posts, Malaysia needs to start recognising talent in whatever field to help produce competent and excellent human capital.
“And the federal government, namely the Education Ministry, must take the lead to ensure competent and quality human capital are produced in abundance to help fast forward Malaysia’s socio-economic progress,” he added.
“That’s a very good start. Think positive and follow-up with more action, as what I had posted previously,” he said, adding that other ministries could also do the same to help motivate talented Malaysians to strive for excellence and to unleash their full potential.

Malaysian student bags awards at International Model UN conference

PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian student has made the country proud when she attended the International Model United Nations conference.
Prevena Ramakrishnan from SMK Sultan Badlishah, Kedah, also won several awards at the event in the US.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid took to social media to congratulate Prevena for her achievement.
"It is understood that this is the first time a Malaysian student has attended the International Model United Nations conference.
"Prevena gave a presentation to 96 delegates from around the world.
"She has also won the 'Best Speaker' and 'Best Position Paper' awards. We are proud of your success!" he said in a post on his Facebook page on Sunday night.
Mahdzir posted pictures related to the event including another award which Prevena won - the "Most Improved Delegate Award".
Prevena's accomplishments earned her lots of praise in the comments section of Mahdzir's Facebook post.
The conference was part of a two-week summer programme organised by the Unesco Centre for Peace this month at Hood College in Maryland, US.

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian student has made it to the 2017 International Model United Nations conference in the United States, a first for any student in the country.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, via his Facebook account today, announced that Prevena Ramakrishnan, a student from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Badlishah, attended the conference as a delegate from Malaysia last Friday.
“Prevena conducted a presentation to 96 delegations from around the world. Not only that, she was awarded the Best Speaker and Best Position Paper awards,” he said.
Mahdzir said the ministry and the country was proud of her and her achievements.
Hundred of netizens responded to the post by echoing Mahdzir’s words of encouragement and pride for Prevena, with many saying she had done Malaysia proud.
Facebook user Khamelia Esa said “Congratulations Prevena..may you be an example to other students.”
Sivarajah Ganasamoorthy said “Congratulations and keep up the good work. Make Malaysia proud!”
Another user, Sharmila Sivasangaran also congratulated Prevena, saying that she had made the nation proud of her success.
The conference was held by the International Model United Nations Association United States not-for-profit organization and partner of the United Nations.
They are dedicated to promoting global issues on education through simulation and hosts premier education-based conferences in numerous cities throughout the world. - NST Online"
