How would you feel if there are two huge garbage bins fronting your house with a free flow of leachate to add to the environment’s aroma? That is exactly what is happening at the Jalan PJU 10/10F-Jalan PJU 10/10B junction in Saujana Damansara. The two bins fronting two coffeeshop restaurants has become a neighbourhood health hazard, a haven for rats, flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches and other insects. “The stench is most unbearable when the garbage truck clear the bin. The truck would leave pools and a trail of leachate,” restaurant owner W.K. Lim said. He lamented to Gerakan Deputy Speaker Syed Abdul Razak Alsagoff that he had complained to both the housing developer (Emkay) and Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) about the health hazard. “But they just keep pushing the problem to others,” he added.
