BUKIT LANJAN: GEs are about political consistency, commitment, sincerity, competency …
As Malaysians go to cast their ballots on May 9, they must decide who they want to elect as their assemblyman and MP.
In the run-up to polling day, political emotions will run high but this must not be allowed to dominate our ability to think carefully and decide for the future and our generations.
There are two factors that we must be clear about:
> That there are good and bad apples on both sides of the political divide; and
> Understanding the distinct roles of an assemblyman and an MP (Member of Parliament).
With the above cleared, Malaysians should decide wisely by identifying the good and bad apples from both sides of the political divide.
What is the point of electing bad apples from a party or coalition and ending up with the same domestic and national woes.
And, obviously, the roles and responsibilities of an assemblyman and an MP are vastly different. If they are the same, then why differentiate and elect two?
The MPs are lawmakers who deal with national and federal issues - to make sound and effective socio-economic plans and policies for implementation for Malaysians and Malaysia.
The assemblymen are lawmakers who deal with the needs of the locals and local governments for his or her constituents.
They need to interact with the constituents and attend to domestic woes that affect the residents - from garbage collection, public health, neighbourhood harmony to security and many more.
Both MPs and assemblymen are elected not to be engaged in confrontational politicking and political mud-slinging throughout the year. This must stop after May 9.
The elected representatives are then expected to discharge their duties and responsibilities as lawmakers - proposing and making decisions, plans and policies for a progressive state and Malaysia.
This blog was launched on Dec 3, 2016, and has to date registered more than 600 postings. Check out the postings and you be the judge of my consistencies in raising issues that affect, directly and indirectly, the lives and neigbourhoods in Bukit Lanjan.
I do not engage in unnecessary political mudslinging which is a pure waste of precious time.
I launched this blog with the following key postings:

Of course, if I am given the chance to serve as a Bukit Lanjan assemblyman, I will be able to solidify my consistencies and sincerity by pushing the relevant issues in the Selangor State Assembly.
Thank you for your time to hear me out.
